Background
- Nonfermentative Gram-negative bacillus within the genus Acinetobacter
- Formerly Acinetobacter calcoaceticus var. lwoffii and Mima polymorpha
- Normal flora of human skin, oropharynx, and perineum
Clinical Manifestations
- Occasionally causes opportunistic infections
Management
- Susceptibilities are generally similar to Acinetobacter baumannii complex
- Meropenem and imipenem are reliable, as are fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, minocycline, and possibly amoxicillin/clavulanic acid[1]
