• Teleomorph and preferred name of Candida famata
• Found in dairy products, especially cheeses
• Closely related to Candida guilliermondii and often misidentified as it, but may also be misidentified as Candida caribbica, Candida haemulonii, Candida lusitaniae, and Candida palmioleophila
• Often requires molecular testing to distinguish it from other species

Clinical Manifestations

• Rare cause of infections in humans
• A few case reports of candidemia
