Background
- Infection of the cornea

- Typically caused by traumatic inoculation
Microbiology
- Yeast including Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, and Candida parapsilosis
- Filamentous fungi including Aspergillus, Fusarium, Cladosporium, Curvalaria, and Rhizopus
Clinical Manifestations
- As for other causes of keratitis
- Blurry vision, redness, tearing, photophobia, pain, foreign body sensation, secretions
Management
- Topical antifungals are the mainstay of treatment
- Topical natamycin 5%, but also topical voriconazole 1% dilution (50 µg/0.1 mL for injection), caspofungin, and others
- Sometimes oral antifungals
- Voriconazole
- Posaconazole
- Maybe others, depending on the species
