- Plant that is a major cause of contact dermatitis in endemic areas
Pathophysiology
- Exposure in sensitized people causes a Type IVa hypersensitivity reaction to Rhus antigen
- Th1 type T cells that activate macrophages by secreting large amounts of cytokines such as interferon- and tumor necrosis factor-alpha
