Background

  • Inflammation of the myocardium
  • Can be acute or chronic, leading to eventual cardiomyopathy

Etiology

Clinical Manifestations

  • Fever, fatigue, malaise, chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations
  • Friction rub if concomitant pericarditis

Diagnosis

  • Endomyocardial biopsy
