- Gram-positive bacillus
- Normal flora in the genitourinary tract
- Rarely pathogenic
- Infections can be treated with penicillin or ampicillin
- However, one study noted susceptibility to imipenem, piperacillin-tazobactam, erythromycin, and clindamycin, but variable susceptibility to penicillin and cephalosporins
- Aerotolerant strains are often intrinsically resistant to vancomycin
