Background

Procedure

  • Insert small, sterile needle into skin of the forearm
  • Circle area of needle insertion
  • Assess area at 24 hours
  • Assess area at 48 hours

Interpretation

  • Positive test is a small red bump or pustule at the site of needle insertion one to two days later
  • Suggestive of Behçet disease, though not sensitive nor specific
