• A family of Gram-negative bacilli that occasionally cause infections in humans
• Includes the following genera:
  • Morganella
  • Proteus
  • Providencia
• Notably, members of this family are generally resistant to colistin, tetracyclines (including tigecycline), and nitrofurantoin
