Background
- Stain:Gram positive coccus within the genus Aerococcus
Clinical Manifestations
- May be contaminant
- Causes urinary tract infections, bacteremia, and rare infective endocarditis
Management
- Generally susceptible to penicillins; higher MICs to cephalosporins, but still susceptible
- Susceptible to vancomycin and linezolid
- Variable resistance to fluoroquinolones
