Background
Mechanism of Activity
- Uses siderophore iron transport system to enter cell, where it acts as a cephalosporin
Spectrum of Activity
- Active against all Ambler class beta-lactamases, including carbapenemases
- Active against Acinetobacter, Enterobacterales, Pseudomonas, Burkholderia, and Stenotrophomonas
- Not active against Gram-positive bacteria
Dosing
- Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales, multi-drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, and Stenotrophomonas maltophila 2 g IV q8h, infused over 3 hours
