- Second-generation cephalosporin
- Spectrum includes MSSA, streptococci, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Neisseria meningitides, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Escherichia coli
- Time-dependent killing
- Time to peak 3 hours, elimination half-life 1.2 hours
Dosing
- Typical dose: 250 to 500 mg PO q12h
- AECOPD: 250 to 500 mg PO q12h for 10 days
- Uncomplicated UTI: 125 to 250 mg PO q12h for 7 to 10 days
- Gonorrhea: 1 g PO once
- Pneumonia: 750 to 1500 mg IV/IM q8h
- Bone or joint infection: 1.5 g IV/IM q8h
