Boutonniere deformity

- Sign suggestive of rheumatoid arthritis
- Deformity of the thumb or fingers with extension of DIP and flexion of PIP
- Opposite of swan neck deformity
- Called "boutonniere" (from French for button) because the bone pops up like through a buttonhole at the PIP where the tendon splits in two
