A genus of protozoan parasites
Giardia lamblia: causes a gastrointestinal infection in humans and other animals
- Many non-human hosts
Numerous animal-specific species:
- G. agilis in amphibians
- G. ardeae and G. psittaci in birds
- G. microti in muskrats and voles
- G. muris in rodents
