Typhoid and paratyphoid (enteric fever)
- blood cultures (large volume, like x4), stool cultures, bone marrow
- biopsy (most sensitive)
- Salmonella enterica subsp. typii and paratyphii
- treatment with 3rd gen cephalosporin; avoid FQs due to high resistance rate
