- Transmits: Ehrlichia chaffeensis and Ehrlichia ewingii (which cause human ehrlichiosis), Heartland virus, tularemia, and STARI.
- Comments: A very aggressive tick that bites humans. The adult female is distinguished by a white dot or “lone star” on her back.
