Background
- Disruption of the lymphatics due to vein harvesting
- Often underlying tinea pedis
- Primarily non-group A, β-hemolytic streptococci, though can have Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus
Management
- Penicillin or amoxicillin or cephalexin
Prevention
- Compression stockings
- Treating tinea pedis and eczema, if present
- Consider prophylactic low-dose penicillin
