Definition

  • Either MD or NP administering the substance at their request, that causes their deaths, or prescribing such a substance to the patient for them to take themselves

Eligibility

  • 18+ years old
  • Capable to make decisions
  • Voluntary request
  • Grievous and irremediable medical condition
  • Informed consent after having been informed of the means that are available to relieve their suffering, including palliative care
    • Cannot provide an advanced directive

Process

  • Patient talks to MRD or NP
  • Written request, witnessed by two independent witnesses, after a period or ten days
  • Two independent physicians myst confirm that they meet the eligibility requirements
  • At the time of MAiD, they must provide consent immediately before it is administered
