Pathophysiology

  • Tau inclusions, Pick bodies, and neurofibrillary tangles

Clinical Presentation

  • Typically begins with impaired judgement, poor mood, and difficult behaviours
  • Memory often intact
  • 15% of patients assessed have ALS!

Behavioural variant

  • behavioural disinhibition, apathy or inerta, loss of sypathy or empathy, perservative, sterotyped or compulsive/ritualistic behaviour, hyperorality and dietary change

Language variant

  • Language variant: prominent decline in language ability or meaning of words

Symptomatic management.
