Behçet disease

Definition
- Idiopathic inflammatory disorder characterized by pathergy and recurrent oral and genital ulcers
Differential Diagnosis
International Criteria for Behçet's Disease
- Recurrent oral ulcerations (aphthous or herpetiform) at least 3 times in a year
- And any two of the following:
- Recurrent genital lesions
- Uveitis or retinal vasculitis
- Skin lesions
- Erythema nodosum
- Pseudofolliculitis
- Papulopustular lesions
- Acneiform nodules
- Positive pathergy test
- 20G needle inserted into skin, area circled with a pen
- Reassess at 24 and 48 hours for a papule
- Most common in Mediterranean patients
