Abdominal aortic aneurysm

Management

  • STOP SMOKING!
  • No role for beta blockers or other medications solely for the AAA
  • Monitor at intervals based on size
    • 3-3.9 cm: every 2-3 years
    • 4-4.9 cm: every year
    • 5-5.4 cm: every 6 months
  • Once 5.5 cm, should be operated on (risk of rupture 10% per year)
