Micrococcus species

• Gram-positive coccus that is oxidase-positive
  • May see tetrads on Gram stain
• Normal flora of the mouth and skin
• Often a contaminant, but can cause line infections, device infections, and endocarditis
• Treatment is typically with penicillin or vancomycin
