Oral hairy leukoplakia

Etiology

  • Opportunistic EBV infection of the squamous cells of the tongue, typically associated with HIV

Epidemiology

  • Immune suppression, including early HIV

Presentation

  • White plaques on side of tongue that cannot be scraped off
