Background

A Gram-positive coccus within the genus Staphylococcus
Grouped into the coagulase-negative staphylococci
Member of the skin flora that was originally found in goat milk and later from healthy human skin, nails, and nasal mucosa

Clinical Manifestations

Generally just a colonizer, only rarely causing infections in humans
Infections include bone and joint infections

Management

As per coagulase-negative staphylococci
