• Species of Gram-positive anaerobic coccus within the genus Peptostreptococcus

Clinical Manifestations

• Most commonly associated with intraabdominal and female genitourinary tract infections
• Has also been found in infections (almost always abscess with mixed growth) of the brain, ear, jaw, pleura, blood, spinal fluid, and joint fluid
• Case reports of endocarditis
