Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae

• Motile Gram-positive bacillus that is Catalase-negative and oxidase-negative
• Causes skin and soft tissue infections with lymphangitic spread following meat exposure (such as butcher)
• Intrinsically resistant to vancomycin
• Can treat with penicillin or ampicillin
