Clinical Presentation

  • Clinical triad:
    • Localized swelling
    • Underlying sinus tract
    • Grains and granules (“sulfur granules”) within the sinus tracts

Diagnosis

  • Send granules in sterile container
  • Gram stain a crushed granule for bacteria, then set up cultures for bacterial and fungal cultures
