Previously a Lactobacillus spp.
Cause bacteremia, abscesses, prosthetic joint infections, and infective endocarditis
Found in ?probiotics?, raw milk, feces, fermented cereals, and vegetables
Alterations of the gut flora from surgery or chemotherapy allow translocation
Inherent vancomycin resistance
