Recurrent tuberculosis

• Recurrence of TB infection, either as relapse of initial infection (around 80% of recurrences in low-endemic settings1) or reinfection (more common in regions with endemic TB)
• Occurs at a rate of about 2.26 per 100 person years at risk1
• Typically occurs during first 2 years
  • Relapses in susceptible TB mostly occur during first 6 months (78%) and almost always during first 12 months (91%) of therapy2
