Microbiology
- Member of the genus Streptococcus
- Gram-positive coccus
- On Gram stain, often has an arrow-head shape and grows in pairs or short chains
- Closely related to Streptococcus pneumoniae
Clinical Manifestations
- Generally low virulence
- Can cause bacteremia, infective endocarditis
