Background
- Gram-negative, encapsulated, oxidase-negative, catalase-positive, aerobic, non-motile bacillus within the genus Raoultella
- Previously known as Klebsiella ornithinolytica
- Environmental organism in water and soil
Clinical Manifestations
- Most commonly causes GI and hepatobiliary infections
- Case reports of urinary tract infection
- Very few case reports of bone and joint infections, soft tissue infection, pneumonia, empyema, pericarditis, and mediastinitis
