Indications

  • Heart failure with unclear volume status
  • Requires fluoroscopy when severe TR, LBBB (needs pacer pads), or PPM/ICD

Interpretation

  • PA up
  • LA up
    • Decreased LVEF (i.e. left heart failure)
    • Mitral stenosis
  • LA down
    • Pulmonary hypertension
    • Pulmonary embolism
  • PA down
  • RA down
    • Hypovolemic
    • Distributive shock
  • RA up
    • Pulmonary stenosis
    • Tricuspid regurgitation
    • Decreased RVEF (i.e. right heart failure)
