Background
- Hairy white tongue caused by EBV infection
Etiology
- Opportunistic EBV infection of the squamous cells of the tongue, typically associated with HIV
Epidemiology
- Immune suppression, including early HIV
Clinical Manifestations
- White plaques on side of tongue that cannot be scraped off
Management
- Treat underlying cause of immunosuppression
