  • Anaphylactoid reaction to vancomycin characterized by a diffuse pruritic rash
    • Can also have hypotension, nausea & vomiting, fevers, and even angioedema
  • Caused by direct activation of mast cells and basophils, releasing histamine
  • Treated by switching to prolonged infusion
