Epidemiology
- Most commonly fractured carpal bone
Clinical Manifestations
- Fall on outstretched hand
- Pain and tenderness at anatomic snuffbox
Investigations
- X-ray of wrist
- Lucency usually seen across the waist
- May not be visible initially but present on follow-up x-ray
Management
- Wrist immobilization for 6-10 weeks
- If not seen on initial x-ray:
- Wrist immobilization with repeat x-ray in 7-10 days
- Alternately, CT wrist
