Microbiology
- Coagulase-negative staphylococcus
- Produces bound, not free, coagulase
- Identified microbiologically by decarboxylation of ornithine
- Commensal skin flora, but can cause disease
Clinical Presentation
- Acts similarly to Staphylococcus aureus in that it can form abscesses anywhere in the body
