Coagulase-negative Gram-positive coccus
- Produces bound, not free, coagulase, so may still be slide-coagulase positive
Identified microbiologically by decarboxylation of ornithine
Commensal skin flora, but can cause disease

Acts similarly to Staphylococcus aureus in that it can form abscesses anywhere in the body
