Criteria
- Heart murmur or preexisting valve disease, including prosthetic valve
- Aetiology
- Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus bovis, Streptococcus sanguinis: +1
- Streptococcus anginosus: -1
- Other streptococci, including Streptococcus mitis and Streptococcus salivarius: 0
- Number of positive blood cultures ≥2
- Duration of symptoms of 7 days or more
- Only 1 species growing in blood cultures
- Community-acquired infection
Interpretation
- Score <3, IE is effectively excluded
- Score ≥3, cannot exclude IE
