Background

  • 1 in 700 transfusion, but more common in critically ill patients

Clinical Manifestations

  • Dyspnea, orthopnea, tachycardia, hypertension, and elevated JVP

Management

  • Stop transfusion
  • Chest x-ray
  • Supportive care
  • Diuretics as needed
  • Restart at lower rate, if safe
