Definition
- SIRS requires two or more of the following:
- Temperature >38 or <36
- Heart rate >90
- Respiratory rate >20 or PaCO2 <32
- WBC >12k or <4k, or bands >10%
- Sepsis is SIRS with a suspected infection
- Severe sepsis is sepsis with end-organ dysfunction
- Elevated lactate
- Decreased urine output
- Elevated creatinine
- Elevated INR
- Septic shock is sepsis with shock despite adequate resuscitation
