Myelodysplastic disorders

• Low risk for transformation to AML
  • 1-2 cytopenias, no increased blasts (<5%)
  • Treat with
    • RBC/PLT transfusions
    • EPO
    • Del 5q treated with lenalidomide
• High risk for transformation to AML
  • bone marrow blasts 5-20%), complex karyotype
    • Supportive care
    • If young: allSCT transplant
    • Otherwise azacitidine (hypomethylating agent)
