Definition
- Either MD or NP administering the substance at their request, that causes their deaths, or prescribing such a substance to the patient for them to take themselves
Eligibility
- 18+ years old
- Capable to make decisions
- Voluntary request
- Grievous and irremediable medical condition
- Informed consent after having been informed of the means that are available to relieve their suffering, including palliative care
- Cannot provide an advanced directive
Process
- Patient talks to MRD or NP
- Written request, witnessed by two independent witnesses, after a period or ten days
- Two independent physicians myst confirm that they meet the eligibility requirements
- At the time of MAiD, they must provide consent immediately before it is administered
