- Infective endocarditis caused by Staphylococcus aureus
Management
- Native valve
- Antibiotics:
- MSSA: cloxacillin or cefazolin (or vancomycin, if allergic)
- MRSA: vancomycin (or daptomycin, if allergic)
- Duration: 6 weeks
- Antibiotics:
- Prosthetic valve
- Antibiotics: as above, with the addition of rifampin for the whole duration and an aminoglycoside for the first 2 weeks
- Duration: 6 weeks
