  • Causes African tick-bite fever (ATBF)
  • Carried by Amblyomma hebraeum and A. variegatum ticks in sub-Saharan Africa and the West Indies
  • Most frequently-imported rickettsiosis

Clinical Presentation

  • Can have multiple black eschars with regional lymphadenitis
  • Rash less common
  • Subacute neuropathy
