Weissella spp.
- Non-spore forming, catalase-negative, gram-positive coccobacilli
- Previously a Lactobacillus spp.
- Cause bacteremia, abscesses, prosthetic joint infections, and infective endocarditis
- Found in ?probiotics?, raw milk, feces, fermented cereals, and vegetables
- Alterations of the gut flora from surgery or chemotherapy allow translocation
- Inherent vancomycin resistance
