Background

  • Therapeutic manoeuvre for BPPV

Procedure

  • Sit patient upright and rotate head 45° towards ear being treated
  • Lay back quickly with head over the back of the table; this should cause nystagmus and is essentially a Dix-Hallpike manoeuvre
  • Hold for 30 seconds
  • Rotate head 90° so it is rotated 45° the other way
  • Hold for 30 seconds
  • Turn their body and head further, so that they are in lateral decubitus with the head facing 45° towards the ground
  • Hold 30 seconds
