Background
- Species of Gram-positive bacillus within the genus Niallia
- Previously known as Bacillus circulans
- Spores found in soil
Clinical Manifestations
- Generally non-pathogenic
- More likely to cause infections in immunocompromised hosts
- Can cause wound infections and bacteremia
Management
- Reliably susceptible to ampicillin, imipenem, levofloxacin, vancomycin, ciprofloxacinCiteRef::ahn2025is
- Can be resistant to penicillin and cotrimoxazole
- Usually resistant to clindamycin
