New page

* Available as concentrate or cryoprecipitate
* Concentrate
** Dose is 4 g, equivalent to 10 units of cryoprecipitate
** Should raise fibrinogen by about 0.9 g/L
* Cryoprecipitate
** Each unit has a volume of 10 to 15 mL
** Dose is 0.1 unit/kg, but typically dispensed as 10 units
** Infused over 15 to 30 minutes per dose (maximum 3.5 hours)
** Each dose should raise fibrinogen by about 0.7 g/L

== Indications ==

* Active bleeding, with fibrinogen less than 1 g/L
* Massive hemorrhage, with fibrinogen less than 1.5 to 2 g/L
* Intracranial hemorrhage related to rissue plasminogen activator, with fibrinogen less than 2 g/L
* Emergency, with clinical status suggestive of low fibrinogen (no time to check fibrinogen)
* Obstetrical hemorrhage
* Hemophilia, when other factor concentrates are unavailable
