* Often have concomitant DVT or PE
* ACCP guidelines suggest supportive care with anticoagulation if
* Close proximity to deep venous system
* Involvement above knee
* Severe symptoms
* Other risk factors
** Active cancer
** Immobility
** History of VTE
** Absence of varicose veins
** Male gender
* Treat with prophylactic-dose LMWH or fondaparinux for 45 days/6 weeks
