** Produces bound, not free, coagulase, so may still be slide-coagulase positive
* Identified microbiologically by decarboxylation of ornithine
* Commensal skin flora, but can cause disease

== Clinical Manifestations ==

* Acts similarly to ''[[Staphylococcus aureus]]'' in that it can form abscesses anywhere in the body
