Background

  • Previously known as Clostridium ramosum
  • Gram-positive, spore-forming, anaerobic bacillus
  • Member of gastrointestinal flora
  • Rarely causes disease in humans, usually in immunocompromised patients

Clinical Manifestations

  • Can cause bacteremia, sometimes in mixed culture
    • Sources are usually GI-related or pressure sores
